Hobart Place General Practice is located in Canberra’s CBD and its patient demographic includes professionals, apartment dwellers from the surrounding high rises and a wide range of other patients. The ACT has by far the lowest GP bulk-billing rates in the country. While the national rate is now at 86%, in the ACT, it is still under 60%. The ACT also has the highest median income in the country.
Hobart Place General Practice is predominantly a private fee practice but bulk bills patients on DVA Gold Cards and children under 5 (but note, our fee arrangements have changed in response to the COVID 19 pandemic -see the Fees page).
We offer a warm, welcoming and collegiate environment and do all we can to accommodate the family and other commitments of our doctors. We also foster the special interests of doctors eg in skin cancer medicine and minor surgery.
The practice is located on level 2 & 3 of 28 University Avenue and has a large staff room where doctors gather for lunch and Practice meetings.. The building is in a vibrant part of the city with many exciting food options in easy reach. It is a short walk to the ANU with the Citywest Carpark and the magistrate’s car park a 3 minute walk away and the Light Rail terminus slightly longer.
Canberra is not only a beautiful city but has a wealth of cultural attractions and sporting venues as well as really good public schools- and no traffic jams!
